Blue Bay Marine Park is 353 hectares of the most protected water in Mauritius — recognised three times by the republic and once by the world. The standard way to see it: a glass-bottom boat, ten minutes of engine-off floating, back to shore.

The Crossing starts differently. Mask on, briefing done, feet in the sand — and then nothing between you and the park until the island.

Thirty minutes in, the park opens up beneath you.

Thirty-eight coral species live in this lagoon — table corals, staghorns, and the park's famous resident: a brain coral five metres across and roughly a thousand years old. It was growing here before Mauritius had a name.

From a boat it's a shape under glass. From the water, you hang above it, hold your breath, and hear the reef crackle.

Blue Bay's seagrass meadows are recognised habitat and nursery ground for the endangered green sea turtle. They graze here, surface here, breathe here — and on the crossing line you share the water at their pace, not an engine's.

Fifteen operators hold glass-bottom boat permits in Blue Bay Marine Park. One runs a swim crossing. Same lagoon, opposite idea: they keep you dry, we keep you in.

The islet sits inside the marine park itself — 4.22 hectares of green rising off the reef line. Boats unload day-trippers on the hour. You arrive low in the water, the island growing in your mask with every stroke, the last hundred metres over bright sand.

Fitness

Confident open-water swimmers. Snorkeling experience helps but isn't required — your guide sets the pace, and the paddleboard is your rest stop.

Safety

Guided start to finish by a certified scuba diver. Paddleboard support alongside the full crossing. Life vest available on request.
